Learn about the unfair fee increase proposed by USCIS. Make your voice heard!
On November 14, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officially published a proposal which would raise the naturalization application fee by 83% to $1,170. The proposal would also eliminate all naturalization fee waivers. These proposed changes would put the dream of U.S. citizenship beyond the reach of millions of Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) who are eligible to naturalize, including more than 4.4 million Latinos.
Naturalization is important and beneficial to all Americans. If implemented, the changes would prevent patriotic and committed LPRs from becoming full participants in our nation's civic life. It would limit their opportunity to pursue economic mobility, which contributes to our nation's prosperity.
Fee changes proposed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will significantly increase filing fees for various immigration benefits, including Naturalization, Lawful Permanent Residency, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, and Employment Authorization. The agency has proposed, for the first time, to charge a fee to apply for asylum. Submit your comments opposing the unfair naturalization fee hike proposal by December 16, 2019.
